Health Profession Scholarship Program
What type of scholarships are available?
Scholarships are available for the following nursing, medical and clinical programs:
Nursing: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nurse Practitioner Certification (NPC), other related nursing specialty certifications.
Medical/Clincial Programs: Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Dental, EMT, Medical Interpreter, Medical Lab, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Paramedic, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Podiatry, Psychology (Masters and above), Public Health (Master's and above), Radiology, Registered Dietician/Nutritionist, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work (BSW and above) Speech, Surgical Technology.
How are grantees selected?
Scholarships are based on financial need, academic performance, and demonstrated motivation and character to obtain a formal education in a nursing, medical or clinical profession.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Applicants must be a resident or work at least 15 hours per week on a regular basis in one of the towns in the Foundation's service area. Applicants must be enrolled in a nursing or formal medical or clinical program at an accredited institution.
How do I apply?
Applicants must complete a confidential Scholarship Application form and submit all required attachments to the Foundation office. Students must also complete a Federal Financial Aid Form.
What is the scholarship amount available?
Scholarships are awarded for tuition fees only up to a maximum of $2,000 per academic year, Applicants may reapply on an annual basis. All scholarship payments are made directly to the academic institution.
What is the deadline for submitting an application?
There is no deadline. Applications are reviewed as they are received and may be submitted at any time. Applications are primarily reviewed on a monthly basis at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
May I reapply for a scholarship ?
You may reapply for a scholarship from the Foundation on an academic year basis.
High School Scholarship Program
What are the eligibility requirements for a high school scholarship?
To be eligible for a scholarship, a student must be in their senior year of high school, legally reside in one of the towns in the Foundation's service area and be entering an accredited academic institution (2-year, 4-year or technical school) within six months of graduation with plans to pursue a career in a health profession.
How do I apply for the scholarship?
Students must be nominated by a designated representative of his/her high school and should contact their director of guidance for information concerning the school's application process.
How are grantees selected?
Grantees are selected based on financial need and academic performance and determined by the individual high schools.
What is the deadline for applying for the scholarship?
The deadline for being considered for a scholarship is determined by the individual school. Students are encouraged to contact their guidance counselor as soon as possible regarding their interest in being nominated for the award.
Once I enter my college, can I apply for another scholarship through the Foundation's Health Profession scholarship program?
Yes. Whether or not a student receives a scholarship award under the high school program, he/she may apply for a scholarship through the Foundation's health profession scholarship program. Students are advised to review the eligibility requirements for this program before completing an application.
