2008 Learning Conference

Sharing Knowledge: Stories From The Field

Wednesday, May 14, 2008
Crowne Plaza Hotel
Natick, MA

MetroWest is a region with many resources, all of which contribute to a population that is generally healthier than the state average. Learning from each other can be the hard part, however, as local agencies are often overwhelmed simply providing services. The conference will explore ways to share your story for maximum impact and lessons we can learn from each other. Sessions will cover a variety of topics, including

  • Storytelling as Best Practice – Andy Goodman, a nationally-recognized public speaker, will share how stories can strengthen your organizations, engage your audiences and advance your mission

  • Outreach and Engagement to Minorities – A diverse panel of nonprofit providers will share their proven strategies for reaching racial and ethnic minorities

  • Models of Sustainability – This session will explore best practices as well as examples of two local agencies who have sustained their work through town and state funding

  • Regional Collaboration – No one says collaboration is easy, but a panel of providers who have worked through the challenges will share what works and what doesn’t

  • Brag and Steal – This facilitated discussion will allow participants to share and learn about what has worked around the region in serving youth, elders and vulnerable adults
